Participation Requirements

Those eligible for participation in the Competition are:

a) Natural persons based in Greece. As of 1 February 2022, the last date for submitting Proposals as defined in article 9.1 of the Competition Announcement, the participants that are natural persons shall be required to have at least twelve years’ experience as architect, and to be in possession of the professional activity permit required by law for an architect in Greece (Technical Chamber of Greece)

b) Legal persons based in Greece. Their Proposal must be submitted by a legal representative of the legal person who must be a Greek citizen. As at the last date for submitting Proposals, as this date is defined in article 9.1 of the Competition Announcement, this representative shall be required to have at least twelve years’ experience as architect, and to be in possession of the professional activity permit required by law for an architect in Greece (Technical Chamber of Greece)

c) Teams of associated architects. These teams (as defined in the Competition Announcement, Article 4.1.c) may consist of natural persons either based in Greece or Greek citizens based abroad; and/or legal persons based in Greece. It is noted that, in case of a team of natural persons based abroad, those natural persons must be Greek citizens, partnering with a natural or legal person based in Greece. As of 1 February 2022, the last date for submitting Proposals as defined in article 9.1 of the Competition Announcement, all team members shall be required to be in possession of the professional activity permit required by law for an architect in Greece (Technical Chamber of Greece), exception being made for teams with a Greek architect based abroad, who shall qualify with possession of a corresponding professional permit of the country of establishment. If the participant is a team of associated architects, such team must include at least one member who is a Greek citizen with at least twelve years’ experience as architect, and in possession of the professional activity permit required by law for an architect in Greece (Technical Chamber of Greece). Each such team participant must state in their application the share of each person involved as a percentage (%) so that the sum of their combined activities equals one hundred percent (100%).

Each Participant may only participate with one (1) entry and submit one (1) architectural proposal.

* The following persons are not entitled to participate or to submit an architectural proposal under any circumstances and are excluded from the Competition:

  • a) persons who have participated in any manner in the preparation and drafting of the Competition Announcement and/or the Competition in general, and their relatives to the second degree of kinship by blood or marriage.
  • b) members of the Selection Committee referred to in Article 5 of the Competition Announcement, and their relatives to the second degree of kinship by blood or marriage.
  • c) persons who have an employment relationship with the persons referred to in points (a) and (b) above or who share a registered address with the persons referred to in points (a) and (b).
  • d) the staff of the Organizers, namely staff associated with the Organizers on an employment contract from the time of publication of the Competition Announcement until the end of the Competition or employed by the Organizers up to 3 months before publication of the Competition Announcement, and their relatives to the second degree of kinship by blood or marriage.
  • e) persons who have committed serious professional misconduct related to the scope of the Competition or in relation to their professional capacity.
  • f) persons convicted of one or more of the following offences: participation in a criminal organisation, bribery, fraud, terrorist offences or crimes associated with terrorist activities, money laundering, false certification, misappropriation, extortion, forgery, perjury and fraudulent bankruptcy.
  • g) persons who are bankrupt, in reorganization, conciliation, sequestration, judicial administration, bankruptcy settlement, cessation of payments or activities, winding up or liquidation or any similar situation arising from a similar procedure under the laws of the country in which they are established, and against whom or on the initiative of the above-mentioned persons proceedings have been opened to declare them bankrupt, in reorganization, conciliation, sequestration, judicial administration, bankruptcy settlement, cessation of payments or activities, winding up or liquidation or any other similar procedure under the laws of the country in which they are established.
